Technology:
The 20th ITS World Congress Tokyo 2013 is held between 14th and 18th of October in Tokyo. It is the world congress for the intelligent transport system (ITS), and it is held in Tokyo for the first time in nine years. More than 8,000 staffs from more than 60 companies worldwide participate in this congress.

Toyota will demonstrate automated driving technology on an express highway. It analyzes data of the surrounding situation using radar and camera to prevent vehicle from drifting from the lane and avoid a collision. In addition, wireless communications between a vehicle and the vehicle travelling in front of it will allow them to accelerate and decelerate at exactly the same timing.

Honda unveiled its automatically-operated vehicle. The in-vehicle camera works together with the application software built in the smartphone carried by a pedestrian, and the system stops the vehicle automatically when it senses the danger of collision. The automatic-operated vehicle also demonstrated the parking technology to park it without human assistance. Using the data and images transmitted by the monitor camera installed in a parking lot, the technology parks a vehicle accurately.
